Warning of danger
A loud and increasingly quiet (wave-like) wailing sound that lasts for more than 1 minute. This means: There is danger to persons and property.

Constantly loud sound that lasts for more than 1 minute. This means: No more danger, the warning is canceled.

Alerting the fire department
1 minute long tone with 2 pauses. This means: No action by the public necessary.

15-second long, short up and down beep. This means that no action is required.

When warning of danger:
Go to a safe place, check the media (radio, TV, municipal website) and the usual warning apps (HessenWarn, NiNa) for information about the cause of the alarm and what to do next.
