Cabinet exhibition Leopold Bode "He who has the luck leads the bride home"
On Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 5 pm, the Haus der Stadtgeschichte will present various works by Leopold Bode, which are currently on display as part of a cabinet exhibition in the museum's Senefelder Room (until November 10), in a guided tour led by museum director Dr. Jürgen Eichenauer.
Leopold Bode (1831-1906) is one of the most important and best-known Offenbach artists of the 19th century. His prints, drawings and paintings in the Romantic style illustrate the legendary world of the Middle Ages, depict historical and religious motifs and often also deal with domestic and family themes. The works on display, including seven large-format drawings of Schiller's cycle "The Bell" and the triptych "Whoever has happiness leads the bride home", were previously on loan for two national exhibitions - the Schack Collection in Munich and the Clemens Sels Museum in Neuss - and have been restored in advance.
