Political participation is the fundamental prerequisite for a functioning democracy. In the words of the French philosopher Bruno Latour, effective political action first requires a "description of the terrain". He thus takes up the complaint booklets of the French Revolution and demands that citizens must first formulate their ideas about how their territory should change before politicians can actively intervene. In his exhibition project "Cahiers de Doléances", Peter Rippl approaches Latour's proposal from an artistic perspective.

Thirty citizens from Offenbach are presented, with three self-chosen keywords assigned to each portrait. These either associatively descriptive or poetic terms are effective on various levels and formulate direct or indirect demands on politics or fellow human beings.
