The Haus der Stadtgeschichte is showing the exhibition "Das Innen und das Außen" by artists Olcay Acet, Susanna Cianfarini and Marisa Grundmann until Sunday, November 6. The opening will take place on Sunday, October 16, at 3 pm at Herrnstraße 61. The exhibition forms the framework for the Women's Success Week, which is being organized from 2 to 6 November 2016 by the artists' association Gedok Frankfurt Rhein-Main e.V., in which the three exhibitors are active.

Olcay Acet is a media and video installation artist, artist, producer, author, educator and Gestalt therapist. In the exhibition "The Inside and the Outside", she deals with questions of her own migration by showing conversations with Turkish people of the first generation of immigrants in her video installation. It is about the children of migrant workers left behind in Turkey, who were called "guest workers" in the Federal Republic of Germany at the time. She herself was one of the children who were left behind in Turkey and later caught up with and confesses: "My aim is to provide a space for the separation and migration experiences of those affected in order to illustrate the very personal migration processes."

Susanna Cianfarini is a painter, draughtswoman and installation artist. In this exhibition, she is showing works on paper, paper dresses in normal clothing sizes. Like a classic portrait, the dresses depict famous female artists. Based on their biographies and works, features of the respective artists are incorporated that indicate their character, as each biography is unique. The more Susanna Cianfarini researched, the less clear the respective artists sometimes seemed to her. She admits: "Every artist can incorporate or elaborate elements of their biography into their art, but they don't have to." The viewers of the artworks have a very active role: they view themselves through the art.

Marisa Grundmann creates drawings, prints, collages, mixed media, handmade papers and paper objects. She presents collages that deal with the female body, alienating it and thus subtly stimulating reflection. The theme "The inside and the outside", which the three artists realize, becomes a painful look at seemingly everyday images of women in our society, which are, however, questioned and reinterpreted. Her aim is also to sensitize people and create a new, enlightened awareness among visitors to the exhibition that leaves behind traditional ways of thinking and conditions.

The museum is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 am to 5 pm, on Wednesdays from 2 pm to 7 pm and at weekends from 11 am to 4 pm. Admission costs 5 euros for families, 2.50 euros for adults and 1 euro for children. Admission is free on Fridays.
