The Frankfurt Artists' Society, founded in 1857, is 160 years old this year. On the occasion of the exhibition in the Haus der Stadtgeschichte, the artists of the association have "taken on" the early members of the artists' society who came from Offenbach.

The finissage of the exhibition "Die Frankfurter Künstlergesellschaft - Korrespondenzen" will take place on Sunday, January 7, 2018, 3 pm, in the Haus der Stadtgeschichte. On this last day of the exhibition, there will be another opportunity to talk to the exhibiting artists.

Since its founding in 1856, artists from Offenbach have also been members of the Frankfurt Artists' Society, which was dedicated to copyright issues, festivals and exhibitions and was a kind of artists' union in its early days. The special feature of the final exhibition is a comparison of the current works of the Frankfurt Artists' Society with works by historical artists who were also members of the society and are also on display - old alongside new. Among them are well-known Offenbach names: Leopold Bode (1831-1906), Adolf Bode (1904-1970) and many others whose works are in the holdings of the Haus der Stadtgeschichte. The current artists of the artists' society have been inspired by their predecessors, hence the title "Correspondences".
