The life's work of artist lithographer Walter Schautz is on display. Walter Schautz died immediately before this exhibition, which shows his life's work, which he donated to the Haus der Stadtgeschichte. Chance and fascination brought him to lithography in 1959. He persevered with this technique throughout his life. He was fascinated by the line in dry chalks, the mobility of the medium in solid areas, painterly areas with liquid inks in nuances and the transparency of the color. He helped prepare the exhibition until his death in August 2023. The exhibition is paired with a cross-section of the works created over two and a half years in the Bernardbau print workshop under its workshop manager Dominik Gußmann. Walter Schautz also donated his Krause toggle-lever machine for lithography to the workshop in 2020.
