The painter and illustrator Klaus Dill (1922-2000) is best known in Germany and around the world as a Karl May illustrator. The "best German Western painter" (FAZ) began his career in Offenbach am Main. After his return from captivity as a prisoner of war (1949), Dill began studying at the Offenbach Werkkunstschule, now the Hochschule für Gestaltung. Even as a child, he drew cowboys and Indians, inspired by reading Karl May, Cooper, Steuben and other authors. Since 1965, he has created over 700 covers for the Wild West comic series "Bessy", which helped the series achieve worldwide success. 20 Dill originals will be made available by collectors and presented together with preliminary drawings in the collection of the Haus der Stadtgeschichte.

In the run-up to the event, a competition called on artists to create a tribute with references to the special artist Klaus Dill.
A jury consisting of meta bene, Der Flix, Guido Kühn, Bernd Pohlenz, daskritzelt and the curator Katja M. Schneider decided who should receive the prizes in the three categories.

The winners will be announced by Lord Mayor Dr. Felix Schwenke at the opening ceremony. A catalog will be published in collaboration with Heider-Verlag in Bergisch-Gladbach.
