LINE - SURFACE / SURFACE - LINE BY ALWIN DOROK - FRANK RUKWIED

AUGUST 6 - SEPTEMBER 10, 2017
Vernissage: Sunday, August 6, 2017, 3 pm
Finissage: Sunday, September 10, 2017, 3 pm
Welcome: Katja M. Schneider
Introduction: Dr. Hanneke Heinemann

At first glance, the paintings of the two artists Alwin Dorok and Frank Rukwied are very different from one another. But only superficially, because what both artists have in common is their exploration of the line in painting.

For Alwin Dorok, the line is primarily a graphic element. In his pictures, the line is created by the meeting of surfaces, as a dividing or connecting line. In his series Jumping Squares, the lines appear to be zoomed in, reminiscent of fractal structures. Frank Rukwied creates an allusive grid by means of evenly placed colored lines, supported by a pronounced and significant panoramic format. Against the smooth surface, he creates a structure with gradients of color.

A catalog will be published to accompany the exhibition.
There will be an artist talk at the finissage on September 10, 2017 at 3 pm. The two artists Alvin Dorok and Frank Rukwied, creators of the current exhibition "Linie -Fläche / Fläche - Linie", will talk about their works. Audience participation is expressly encouraged!
