The student of Christa Näher and Thomas Bayrle (Städelschule) is showing an installation
installation that radically changes the appearance of the industrial hall.
The brown corrugated cardboard, a material that is available in infinite quantities
and seemingly light, creates elegant stability.
Thomas Hartmann plays with this in a very serious way and in doing so creates
deeply touching sculptural worlds. The visitor experiences a work of magic
and megalomaniacal fun.
A closer look reveals structures that seem to have sprung from insane stories. The cryptogenetic result is more than the sum of its parts: Art historical influences wrestle with biographical elements of the artist, illustrating the everyday struggle for survival.
