The hidden museum - documentation of an Offenbach treasure
At first glance, the Rosenberger leather embossing company appears to be a classic example of an Offenbach family business in the leather goods industry. What makes the former family business unique is that the current owner, Heinz Rosenberger, has left the company more or less in the same condition it was in when it closed its doors in 1988 after almost 100 years of existence.
The sight that presents itself to the viewer takes you back to the 1980s. In the cellar there are heavy 19th century machines from local Offenbach production, huge wrenches lying around, antique calendars adorn the walls, wooden workbenches stand in the corners, the tools hang neatly tidied away on the wall, an issue of the Offenbach Post from 1988 lies on the workbench. Everything is original.
Photographer Kirsten Bucher has succeeded in capturing and documenting this unique atmosphere in a fascinating way.
A catalog for the exhibition by photographer Kirsten Bucher in cooperation with the Haus der Stadtgeschichte and Heinz Rosenberger.
