August 2026

Join us in designing and building a space for sharing, relaxing, and creating. The terrace of the Klingspor Museum will be your space—you decide what happens here. Contact: paulaschulenburgwebde. You can sign up or just drop by!
Friday, August 7, 5 p.m., curator-led tour of the exhibition “Powerful Textures: Language in Textiles.” Admission by donation. Starting at 6 p.m., cold drinks will be available at the book bar.
Friday, August 7, 6 p.m.: Utopia in Poetry. Creative writing workshop with Jana Gebhardt. Audre Lorde wrote: “Poetry is not a luxury; it is as essential as bread when your stomach growls.” It is this hunger for text that drives this workshop. The search for the poetic in the in-between moments. Between coming home and washing dishes. No time for yourself and too much screen time. Where’s there still room to write a poem? At least there’s the shopping list. But how much utopian potential does it hold? Free admission. Starting at 6 p.m., there will be cold drinks at the book bar. If you plan to come, please feel free to register—no obligation—so we can plan better.
Saturday, August 8, 2–5 p.m., Calligraphy Course for Beginners with Tanja Leonhardt. In this course, calligraphy artist Tanja Leonhardt will introduce writing tools and techniques. In a brief journey through the centuries, the respective scripts will be presented in their historical context and participants will have the opportunity to write them themselves. The course will address fundamental questions such as: Which nib do I need for which script? Using participants’ own handwriting, we’ll explore the experiences we’re losing as handwriting becomes increasingly rare: What is the interplay between the writer and the form? How can one change one’s handwriting in simple steps? The course aims to lay a broad foundation for participants’ own further exploration within the various areas of interest across the vast field of writing. Registration required, 30 euros
Friday, August 14, 7:00 p.m., TEXT MATTERS. MATTERS OF TEXT. Festival on the Materiality of Language. Sites of Print. Esther Dischereit, Mara Züst. Admission by donation.
Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16, 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day, Gib Stoff! Workshop for adults with Ina Hengstler in the printmaking studio. Inspired by the textile exhibition at the Klingspor Museum, participants will create artworks in which thoughts find their own visual language through writing and textile printing. First, words related to the theme “web of thoughts” or “grid of thoughts” will be collected, set using wooden and lead type, and printed. The printed words will then be artistically enhanced with various textures. We’ll print using nets, fabrics, threads… The resulting artworks can be folded or bound into book objects and will come with a custom-designed fabric bag for storage. Registration required. Cost: 80 euros + 10 euros material fee
