New unique piece for the Klingspor Museum collection
14.11.2023 - The Klingspor Museum was presented with a unique piece for its collection by Stadtwerke Offenbach: the artist's book "Enorm in Form" (2020/21) by Carola Willbrand is now enriching the library of the renowned museum.
The work was created on the basis of a brochure of the same name on the sport of aerobics from the 1980s. This trend movement promoted women's self-esteem with regard to their self-presentation in public and at the same time increased the pressure to conform to a certain ideal physical image, explained museum director Dr. Dorothee Ader. "How do I present myself as a woman and how am I seen? These questions have become the theme of Carola Willbrand's life, and I am particularly pleased that we are now receiving her unique book," said Ader at the handover by Stadtwerke Managing Director Peter Walther on Thursday, November 9, 2023.
Sponsorship extended until 2026
Stadtwerke has been supporting the Museum für Buch- und Schriftkunst in Offenbach since 2010 with 7,500 euros net per year - the corresponding sponsorship agreement was extended this summer up to and including 2026. In return, the Klingspor team organizes the exhibition "The Pictures of the Book Artists" every year in the Stadtwerke company center. After the show, the sponsor acquires a work of art from it, which is made available to the Klingspor Museum on permanent loan. In the twelfth edition of the series, Carola Willbrand designed the corridors and rooms on Senefelderstraße with her masks until fall 2023, and the unique book "Enormous in Form" could be seen on monitors.
"The cooperation with the Klingspor Museum brings a creative change to everyday office life - every year I look forward to the new exhibition and the first comments from my employees," said Peter Walther. For guests from outside the Stadtwerke, the artistically designed corridors often offer a "moment of surprise" that arouses interest and creates a connection to the city. The vernissage in Senefelderstrasse is always a highlight in the Stadtwerke's annual calendar and brings very different people together, says Walther. The 13th show with pictures by the book artists will not open until spring 2024, as renovation work in the building is due before then.
Work is also underway at the Klingspor Museum: The building is currently being fitted with a new floor including a tactile floor guidance system. On January 13, 2024, the museum will reopen its doors and host its 68th International Children's Book Exhibition under the motto "Illustration special". The high-quality posters and other public relations work for this and other exhibitions at the museum are financed by sponsorship from Stadtwerke. "This allows us to show what we do in a professional manner - this long-term support is very valuable to us," emphasized the museum director. The Klingspor team also always listens to the Stadtwerke when it comes to special requests: "This is not a matter of course and always creates connections."
The reading room with the new artist's book is also available to the public during the renovation work at the Klingspor Museum, Herrnstraße 80, from Monday to Friday; registration is required by calling (069) 8065-2066 or -2065. Workshops and the vacation games from January 9-12 will also take place.
