An almost forgotten craft
Rainer Gerstenberg's type foundry in Darmstadt was one of the last places where lead type was cast as it was 100 years ago. In the rooms of the Hessian State Museum Darmstadt, Department of Type Casting, Typesetting and Printing Processes, an ancient craft lives on and the last masters (casting molds) of the Klingspor type foundry are also on site. Five short documentary films on the Klingspor Museum's YouTube channel take a look at the almost lost world of the type foundry.
