"Burnout. The social suffering of exhaustion"
Burnout, according to Neckel in his lecture, occurs as a subjective suffering in which social problems, particularly those of modern working life, are documented beyond individual distress. As a mostly work-related sign of exhaustion, the causes of burnout are to be seen in the stress factors of social change, which expect a high level of professional commitment, strong identification with work, personal responsibility and self-control in coping with life from the individual. Based on this, the lecture analyzed today's competitive society as a social order that produces exhaustion syndromes by forcing individuals to constantly worry about their own performance.
