City of Offenbach

University of Art and Design (HfG)

The Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) Offenbach is an art college of the state of Hesse, located in Offenbach am Main.

The Hochschule für Gestaltung has been located in Offenbach am Main since it was founded in 1832.

It is an art college of the state of Hesse and developed from an original school for craftsmen into a school for arts and crafts, in which crafts, artistic and theoretical subjects were taught even then.

The university currently has around 750 students and around 110 employees, including 26 professors. There are two faculties. These are divided into the fields of art and design.

The HfG attaches great importance to individual support for each student in all areas. The course is divided into a four-semester foundation course and a four-semester main course, followed by the diploma thesis.

The campus consists of Isenburg Castle, which has existed since the 16th century, the main building designed by Hugo Eberhardt and the new west wing built in 2003.

The university and its departments are characterized by mutual openness. The departments teach and develop on an equal footing. Theory and design also work together.
