Workshops for schools
#1 Weather detectives
On the trail of the air (from 1st grade)
What do we know about weather? What makes up weather? How does sunny weather develop, for example? We go on the trail of the weather: using small experiments, the children learn about the special features of the air and the role that air and wind play in the formation of the weather.
#2 Weather and climate experiments
Discovering weather phenomena (from 3rd grade)
What is air pressure? And what does it have to do with the weather? How is a rainbow formed? How can a tornado be created in a bottle? What happens when icebergs melt? Using simple and exciting experiments, we learn what these phenomena are all about and how weather and climate are created.
#3 Wonder Earth
Our planet and its climate system (from 8th grade)
What makes the Earth a habitable planet? What role do the oceans play in our climate system? What happens when the climate changes? In this workshop, we explore the climate and its changes through practical experiments. We will learn about the physical and chemical principles of the climate system through phenomena such as the Earth's radiation or ocean acidification.
#4 Deep Dive into Data
Create your own weather and climate maps (from 10th grade)
Using a prepared Python script, we download and visualize open source climate and weather data. Everyone decides for themselves how and which data to display. This creates a basic understanding of data analysis and visualization. In addition, the pattern of the climate system becomes tangible through your own animated maps. Programming skills are not necessary.
#5 And now to the weather
How is a weather forecast made? Interactive tour through the exhibition with an expert (from 10th grade)
What makes a weather forecast so complex and why does it often seem to be wrong? What are weather models? Together we dive into the world of weather reports, learn about the methods and technologies of weather forecasting and find out how models and weather instruments work together to make the chaotic atmosphere more predictable!

If the group is split up, it is possible to go on a pre-prepared exploratory tour of Offenbach with questions on the subject of weather and climate. This exploration tour must be independently supervised and guided by one of the teachers. Alternatively, the time can of course be organized by the students themselves.
