Exhibition now complete: Last exhibit installed at SCAPE°

09.10.2025 – The exhibition at SCAPE° is now fully installed. The installation of the last exhibit was successfully completed during ongoing operations - and can now be viewed and used.

The interactive exhibit "Weather means wind" invites visitors to explore and understand the fascinating mechanisms behind weather phenomena such as the land-sea wind system in a playful way. It illustrates how winds arise because the sun heats the earth's surface to different degrees. Geographical location, atmospheric conditions and the nature of the surface play a central role and it is also possible to experience and test how different materials in the environment are heated by the sun.

A red button can be used to switch on the "sun" in the SCAPE°, which heats the water and earth beneath it. The heating can be measured with a thermometer: While water heats up less, the temperature of the earth rises faster. A blue button then releases water vapor, simulating wind between water and earth. It is possible to observe how the water vapor is attracted to the warm earth - a vivid example of the movement of air driven by temperature differences. The exhibit thus illustrates how winds are created, as they are the atmosphere's attempt to balance out temperature differences. This permanent exchange and the constant redistribution of heat are fundamental to weather patterns - a dynamic process that never comes to a standstill.

The SCAPE° is an interactive experience space in Offenbach. Here, the connections between weather, climate and sustainability are explored - with exciting experiments, workshops and events. For children and adults. Free admission.
