Lecture by the German Weather Service

Free admission

Tornadoes: How to predict them - Oct. 20, 7 p.m.

What is the difference between a simple summer storm and a thunderstorm? What is a supercell and how do tornadoes form?

Dipl.-Met. Marcus Beyer, member of the tornado expert group of the German Weather Service, explains in this illustrative lecture whether and how tornadoes can be predicted, how often they occur in Germany and how to behave correctly in an emergency.

The question of whether tornadoes are becoming more frequent as a result of climate change is also explored. The lecture will also show how the tornado expert group of the German Weather Service works in the event of a suspected tornado and how it is ultimately confirmed in consultation with other experts.

Admission free.
