MainBuchcast 2024

This year, the city library's "MainBuchcast" competition was held for the third time. Pupils in years 7 to 10 from the Albert-Schweitzer-Schule, Edith-Stein-Schule and Leibnizschule translated books into a podcast. On Thursday, June 27, the winners were announced at a ceremony in the city library.

A jury, including last year's prizewinners and members of the children's and youth parliament, listened to and evaluated the podcasts submitted. Ida Todisco as moderator and Nicole Köster, Head of the City Library, awarded the prizes.

This year's first prize, and with it the prize money of 500 euros and the challenge cup in the form of a silver microphone, went to the theater club of the 7th grade of the Albert Schweitzer School. The pupils worked on Ele Fontain's book "Unter Null Grad - Countdown im Eis" (dtv-Verlag), which is about an icy survival trip by two young people.

The second prize, worth 300 euros, was won by 10c from Leibnizschule with the episode about "Sommergig" by Robert Habeck and Andrea Paluch, a profound coming-of-age story, also published by dtv.

200 euros and thus third place went to the 8th grade German class at the Albert Schweitzer School. They came out on top with Mizuki Tsujimura's "Lonely Castle in the Mirror" (Carlsen-Verlag), a 464-page book about a moving story about loneliness, bullying and mental health.

The winning podcasts as well as all other submissions and the podcasts from previous years' competitions can be found on spotify under MainBuchcast.

Offenbach City Library would like to thank dtv-Verlag and the publishers Arena and Carlsen, who once again sponsored the books for the participants.

Everyone is a winner! The participants of the MainBuchcast Prize 2024.
