Internship
An overview of internships:
Internship for school pupils
A pupil internship is an internship for pupils that is completed during their time at a secondary school or grammar school. It usually lasts 2-3 weeks and offers a first insight into working life. The internship is intended to support career orientation by enabling students to get to know the job market and explore different professions and companies. This makes it easier to choose a career later on.
Internship before your studies
A pre-study internship is often required for technical courses, such as mechanical engineering, but also for social work courses - and possibly also for creative courses such as design:
TIP
Offenbach internship weeks: try out different professional fields
If you don't yet know exactly what you want to do after school, you can use the internship week to find out which professions suit you. During the internship week, you will get to know a new company from your region every day. The internship days are planned individually for you and you choose which days you want to take part in. You will gain exciting practical experience and make contacts in different companies.
Participation in the internship week is possible in the three weeks before the summer vacation (during school time) from the 8th grade. It takes place as part of a voluntary school event and requires exemption from lessons.
Participation during the summer vacation (outside school hours) is only possible from the age of 15. Internship days that take place during the summer vacation are also voluntary, but do not count as a school event.
Participation is free of charge.

At the end of their school career, young people should be in a position to make a decision about a career or course of study that matches their abilities. In order to develop the necessary technical and interdisciplinary skills, it is important that the school provides information about the various career options.

Education funding
BAföG for students
There are several ways for students to finance their education. It is best to seek advice on this.
If you are studying in Germany, you can apply for BAföG (Federal Training Assistance Act) at the Office for Training Assistance (BAföG Office) in the place where you want to study. The Studierenden-/Studentenwerke are responsible for BAföG applications.
Scholarship
Students can apply for a scholarship to finance their studies. Scholarship databases on the internet can help in the search for a suitable scholarship.
BAföG for trainees
Under certain conditions, it is also possible for trainees to receive BAföG.
Student loan
Educational loans are another option for financing studies. Educational loans can be applied for for a limited period of time regardless of parental income, e.g. from the KfW Bank. As a rule, the educational loan is paid out monthly in installments and must be repaid with interest.
