City of Offenbach

Welcome to the vhs newsletter

  • The OF Bildungsbüro is now represented online in a VERY big way

Education can improve starting opportunities and life chances. However, the educational landscape can be confusing, is constantly changing and new educational topics are emerging. This is why Offenbach has the OF Bildungsbüro. In order to better support those involved in education and those seeking advice, the education office has further developed its website. OF Bildungsbüro ONLINE is the new website of the OF Bildungsbüro. It offers a comprehensive, digital view of a wide range of topics, offers, information and materials that support citizens and educational professionals in educational institutions, always with an Offenbach-specific focus.

OF Bildungsbüro ONLINE summarizes information for target groups, for children and young people, parents and families, adults, newcomers and educational professionals. Of course, you can also simply browse through OF Bildungsbüro Online, be inspired and discover new things.

Existing information, such as the vacation program for children and young people or information for parents on registering for daycare centers and schools, has been assigned to target groups, linked and supplemented with topics. One such thematic addition can be found, for example, behind the Parents tile under the title "Media education: TV, smartphone, tablet, video games and co." This deals with how to deal with screen time, setting up child and youth protection filters, rules for smartphones and tablets and much more. Educational professionals can also find helpful information for their work on media education and other topics in the education portal.

The advantage of OF Bildungsbüro ONLINE is that users do not have to laboriously search for information themselves. In addition to easy access, they benefit from the bundling of information with an upstream quality check. This is also always done from an "OF perspective", which means that offers, contact points and local services that promote educational processes are prominently featured. The portal pursues a broad concept of education and - in the spirit of informal education - provides information on meeting places and groups for children and young people in Offenbach, for example. The new portal does not create any duplicate structures, as content that is available on existing websites is simply linked. www.offenbach.de/bildungsbuero is embedded in the city's website and can therefore be translated into 14 languages.

OF Bildungsbüro ONLINE is available 24/7, but is not an AI that automatically generates content, but a handmade product. This means that questions about the content presented there or feedback can simply be sent back to the OF Bildungsbüro using the built-in contact and feedback forms. Of course, the OF Education Office can also be contacted independently of the new online portal for questions about educational and advisory services. Contact can be made by telephone or e-mail.

  • Score points with education in Offenbach's new "Bildungspunkt" - open for all questions relating to education, further training, work and careers

"We create opportunities" - that is the motto of the new Bildungspunkt in the city of Offenbach. The Bildungspunkt is a contact point and advice center for anyone with questions and concerns about education, further education, work and careers. It is centrally located near the town hall, at Platz der Deutschen Einheit 3, easily accessible in the rooms of the EKO (Eigenbetrieb Kindertagesstätten Offenbach) contact point. On 5.11.2024, the education point was officially opened by Thomas Iser, Chairman of the Management Board of the Employment Agency and Dirk Wolk-Pöhlmann, Head of the Adult Education Center.

The new contact point is aimed at all those interested in education, employees and job seekers, as well as companies and businesses with a need for employee qualification and in-company training. The idea: challenges and questions about education and further training arise at every stage of life and career. However, it is not always easy to quickly find the right offer and place your question in a targeted manner. The Bildungspunkt is a low-threshold point of contact and advice center. The motto is: simply drop by with your request during opening hours. The Bildungspunkt is currently open on three days: Mondays from 9 am to 1 pm, Tuesdays from 1 pm to 5 pm and Wednesdays from 10 am to 2 pm.

The concerns brought to the Bildungspunkt can be just as diverse as the life and educational situations: People seeking advice can ask any questions about personal further education or catching up on school qualifications. Anyone who wants to reorient themselves professionally and develop new perspectives will receive just as much support there as those seeking advice who are planning to (re-)start a career. Advice is also available for those who want to find out more about their strengths and how they can put them into practice in a career, for example. People interested in education who are looking for financial support for further training are just as welcome at Bildungspunkt as people who want to build on a profession they have learned or practised abroad or have their school or professional qualifications recognized.

Since November 6, 2024, a competent team of (further) education advisors from the employment agency, adult education center and the "ProAbschluss" initiative of the state of Hesse has been available to those seeking advice at Bildungspunkt. They provide individual, neutral and open-ended advice. Advice is free of charge and available during opening hours without an appointment. Interpreter supportis available if required. You can find currentinformation at www.offenbach.de/bildungspunkt

If concerns cannot be clarified directly at the Bildungspunkt, it is possible for people to be accompanied to a further office so that they can receive targeted, tailored support there.

The Employment Agency, the adult education center and the Offenbach am Main Chamber of Industry and Commerce have joined forces to run the new Bildungspunkt Offenbach with network partners.

The idea for the Bildungspunkt came from the Federal Employment Agency, Regional Directorate for Hesse, and is based on the shortage of skilled workers on the one hand and the new, increasingly digital and automated world of work, which requires new skills and qualifications, on the other. To help employees improve their qualifications, training points are to be awarded throughout Hesse. Training points have already been created in several municipalities in Hesse since 2023. Training points have now also been launched in the Offenbach district.

You can find more information about the Offenbach Education Point by clicking on the headline or the image.
