Adult Education Commission and representation of the interests of course instructors

In accordance with the statutes of the Offenbach Adult Education Center (Section 7), an Adult Education Commission is convened. This is made up of representatives from public life. The aim of the Adult Education Commission is to ensure the participation of social sectors in the Adult Education Center.

Adult Education Commission

The commission's term of office is linked to the term of office of the municipal council. By resolution of 17.03.2022 by the City Council of the City of Offenbach, the statutes of the Adult Education Center were amended and the advisory board was converted into a municipal commission. The members of the Adult Education Commission were then reappointed.

The Adult Education Commission is chaired by the Head of Education,

City Councillor Paul-Gerhard Weiß.

Representatives of the social sectors (one representative each):

• of the German Trade Union Federation,
• the Education and Science Trade Union,
• the Chamber of Industry and Commerce,
• the district craftsmen's association,
• the Protestant Church
• the Catholic Church
• the Jewish community,
• the Free Religious Community of Offenbach,
• the Foreigners' Advisory Council,
• the Employment Agency
• the State Education Authority,
• the Offenbach School Principals' Interest Group (IGOS),
• the Children's and Youth Parliament,
• the Seniors' Council

Representatives of the municipal bodies:

- the municipal Women's and Equal Opportunities Officer of the City of Offenbach am Main,

- one representative of MainArbeit - Municipal Job Center Offenbach

- one representative from each of the parliamentary groups in the city council. The representatives of the parliamentary groups are elected by the City Council for the duration of the respective term of office of the City Council.

Representatives of the adult education center:

• Representing the interests of freelance teachers
• The management of the adult education center and the deputy management of the adult education center are members of the adult education commission in an advisory capacity.

Representation of the interests of course instructors

The part-time course instructors of the Volkshochschule Offenbach are convened once a year for a general meeting (Section 5 of the vhs Offenbach statutes).

They elect a representative from among their number to represent the interests of the course instructors vis-à-vis the management of the Adult Education Center. The representative is a member of the Adult Education Commission.

Ms. Manju Kumar has been elected to represent the interests of the course instructors up to and including 2023.
