    NEWS:

A look at education in Offenbach (I): EBO 2024 published

The tasks of the Offenbach Education and Training Report (EBO) are to identify framework conditions, present results and developments and, where possible, make comparisons between municipalities. It has thus provided a continuous source of information and a basis for educational policy decisions in the municipality for almost 20 years.

The recently published "Anniversary EBO 2024" follows this tradition. For the first time, it provides information on the swimming skills of children in year three and gives an overview of the structure of professionals in the education sector in Offenbach. It also provides information on a survey of parents at the transition from nursery to elementary school and on the question of the educational participation of children and young people with and without a migration background at various stages of education. The reporting year is the 2022/23 school year or the 2023 calendar year.

The EBO 2024 is available exclusively in digital format for the first time - in a new, more reader-friendly format. You can access the link to the EEO 2024 by clicking on the image or the headline.

  • Future factory - a QuB project

    PROJECT:

QuB - Qualification and employment for young people with language support needs

Newly immigrated young people who have completed their compulsory schooling and have not yet found a job due to language barriers or a lack of vocational orientation receive support in this project of the City of Offenbach's school-to-work transition management.

The focus is on language support and vocational orientation for the young people, who receive socio-educational support and individual assistance in all phases of the project. The aim is to support participants in developing career prospects by introducing them to different occupational fields and helping them to explore their own interests and skills. Following the project, they may, for example, start an apprenticeship, gain a place at a secondary school to obtain a higher school leaving certificate or take part in a further qualification measure. Depending on the need for support, participation in the project can last between 6 and 18 months.

One of the project partners is Sportkreis Offenbach e.V. The project also aims to support people with a migration background with the recognition of their qualifications obtained abroad and with the search for an internship, apprenticeship or job.

"Sport gewinnt" is a model project within the framework of the special fund of the nationwide program "Integration through Sport" and the Sportjugend Hessen.

  • TENDERING:

Education for the whole family - the Diesterweg Opportunity Scholarship is looking for children from Offenbach elementary school who are keen to learn

In summer 2025, the two-year Diesterweg Opportunity Scholarship for third-graders from Offenbach with a love of learning will be launched for the sixth time. The scholarship supports children who stand out due to their love of learning but are not (yet) able to realize their potential - perhaps due to educational barriers. In order to overcome possible obstacles to education, the Opportunity Scholarship takes a holistic approach: it also strengthens parents in their role as active educational supporters.

The scholarship accompanies families for two years during the transition from fourth to fifth grade. Recommendations for the selection process can be made by Offenbach elementary school, school principals and third grade teachers until March 28, 2025.

For more information and to access the recommendation questionnaire for teachers, simply click on the image or the headline.

If you have any questions, please contact the project manager, Nina Waibel-Rohde, phone: 069 26483831, e-mail: : waibel-rohde@buergerstiftung-offenbach.de.

    March 26, 2025

    vhs Offenbach

The magistrate's decision to compile the Offenbach Education and Training Report (EBO) dates back to October 2004 and the first EBO was published in 2005. This anniversary is an occasion to honor and celebrate the almost 20-year EEO tradition at a soirée with City Councillor Paul-Gerhard Weiß and to venture a look ahead.

EEO companions, representatives from city politics and all those interested in reporting are cordially invited to attend. To register, simply send an e-mail to bildung@offenbach.de. Registration deadline: March 14, 2025
