  • Federal government strengthens voluntary work and associations / Tax improvements from 2026

In December, the Federal Council approved the Tax Amendment Act for Voluntary Work. This resulted in important tax and legal improvements. The main changes came into force on January 1, 2026.

Among other things, the lump-sum allowances for trainers and volunteers were increased so that more income remains tax-free. At the same time, liability protection for volunteers has been significantly extended. Associations also benefit from higher exemption limits, less bureaucracy and more planning security. Another new feature is the recognition of e-sports as a charitable purpose and clear rules for photovoltaic systems on club buildings.

  • New umbrella organization for migrant organizations in Hesse strengthens participation and networking

In December, the Dachverband Migrantenorganisationen Hessen (DaMOH) was officially founded in Frankfurt. The association emerged from the long-standing efforts of Hessian migrant self-organizations to jointly represent their interests at state level and to strengthen their voice in the political and social debate.

In recent years, annual networking meetings have promoted dialogue and exchange between migrant organizations with the participation of the Competence Centre for Diversity Hesse and the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs. This cooperation formed the basis for the foundation of the umbrella organization, which today already unites 40 member organizations and is open to further initiatives. The aim of the association is not only to pool common interests, but also to help make migrant perspectives visible and actively involve them in political decision-making processes.

The founding of the umbrella organization is a further step towards stronger networking and political participation of people with migration experience in Hesse. A decisive contribution to a diverse, common coexistence.
