  • "Beyond Beliefs": Reading and author talk with Sohail Husain

On Wednesday, June 11, the German-British author Sohail Husain will present the incredible story of his parents, the Offenbach Jewess Karola Grünebaum and the Pakistani Muslim Afzal Husain, at 6 p.m. in the Haus der Stadtgeschichte. Husain's parents were separated by their place of birth, origin, faith, language and age, but their shared experience of loss and upheaval eventually brought them together in London. Their lives were shaped by the Holocaust, the partition of India, flight and new beginnings: a gripping account of persecution and war, but also of love and the unshakeable strength of the human spirit. The event is organized by the Society for Jewish-Christian Cooperation in cooperation with Chai OF and the Haus der Stadtgeschichte. Admission is free.
