Real estate jour fixe in the Franz Liszt Quarter
09.10.2025 – How the energy-efficient refurbishment of existing properties and the construction of new apartments can be implemented and financed was the topic of the latest Real Estate Jour fixe of the Darmstadt, Frankfurt, Hanau-Gelnhausen-Schlüchtern and Offenbach Chambers of Industry and Commerce.
This is organized by alternating hosts on current topics relating to the construction and real estate industry. More than 40 participants were invited by IHK Offenbach to the Franz-Liszt-Quartier between Odenwaldring, Richard-Wagner-Straße, Weikertsblochstraße and Franz-Liszt-Straße. Seven apartment buildings built by Stadtwerke Offenbach subsidiary GBO Gemeinnützige Baugesellschaft mbH Offenbach in 1954 are currently undergoing energy-efficient refurbishment and two apartments are being added to each.
During the tour of the quarter, Boris Kupke, one of the managing directors of GBO, explained the process using prefabricated façade parts including windows. These timber modules are simply assembled on the building at the construction site. Even if this damming method is still inconvenient for the residents of the houses, it still saves time, noise and dirt on the construction site. However, the process only pays off with subsidies and through the cross-financing of the additional new apartments, said Kupke. Nevertheless, a profit cannot be made in the coming decades. "But we are more active than most other construction companies - they are currently not getting involved in renovations or new builds at all."
