Clearing and demolition work for new IGS Lindenfeld elementary school

Demolition work on the school grounds is expected to follow in the second quarter of 2022. Shell construction is scheduled to begin at the end of the third quarter of 2022. The municipal utility company OPG Offenbacher Projektentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH has been commissioned by the City of Offenbach to build a two-form entry elementary school with a canteen on the existing school grounds in two construction phases, which are expected to be completed by 2027, as well as to renew the underground pipes and completely redesign the schoolyard.

In the first construction phase, 17 trees and shrubs will have to be felled and the crowns of four trees on Friedensstraße pruned back. In the second construction phase, which is expected to begin in 2024, a further four trees will have to be felled. To compensate for this, new trees and shrubs will be planted on the school grounds once the new building is completed. The clearing work, which is now being carried out by a specialist company commissioned by OPG, has been agreed with the Lower Nature Conservation Authority and will be supervised by an expert. The work will take three to four days. Before the felling work begins, all trees and shrubs have been examined by an expert for bird and bat habitats.

With the new school building, which will frame the historic main building of the IGS in a U-shape, the city of Offenbach is creating new teaching places, which are urgently needed in the southern city center due to population growth. In future, around 200 children in eight classes will be taught in the new primary school building.
