Preparatory work on the Pan Dacom site is underway

02.10.2025 – The development of Offenbach's harbor district as a commercial and office location is making further progress: Following the acquisition of the former site of the trade fair parking lot in the harbor by the Pan Dacom Group, Mainviertel Offenbach GmbH & Co. KG, a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Offenbach, will begin preparatory land preparation measures on Monday, October 6. This is necessary because the Pan Dacom Group will be building its new company headquarters there.

The site preparation measures are scheduled to take six to eight weeks. The Pan Dacom Group is one of the leading suppliers of equipment for enterprise, carrier and data center networks. As an international system house with its own hardware and software development, the Pan Dacom Group has many years of IT expertise in planning, implementing and operating complex networks - and has been doing so for more than 40 years.

The work involves the excavation of fillings and installations from the previous industrial use of the port area - the purchase agreement contains corresponding remediation obligations for Mainviertel GmbH. The non-recyclable excavated material will be deposited externally, while the recyclable excavated material will remain on the site for reuse. In this context, targeted deep debris removal is carried out, in which underground building remains are systematically removed. This step is crucial for the complete clearance of the construction site and makes a significant contribution to simplifying subsequent construction activities and avoiding unexpected construction obstacles. The recycled material obtained from the floor slab and the concrete residue can then be reused, for example, as a base layer under the foundations or in road and path construction on the site. During the dismantling of the floor slab and especially during the crushing, which is scheduled for the last two weeks of the project, dust and noise emissions may occur at times.

"We are pleased to be able to give the go-ahead for the preparatory work on the Pan Dacom Group site now," says Lord Mayor and Head of Economic Affairs Dr. Felix Schwenke. "For Offenbach as a business location, the establishment of another company in the field of future technologies is a major gain. In addition, the Pan Dacom Group is not only bringing many jobs to Offenbach: the selection of the new location also spatially connects the Kaiserlei with the port." In July 2025, the company from Dreieich opted for the new location at the port.

Sustainable construction for a future-proof urban quarter

"We are aware that we are facing several parallel and consecutive construction works in the port in the coming weeks and apologize and ask for the understanding of the residents for the additional burden," adds Božica Niermann, Managing Director of Stadtwerke Offenbach's Geschäftsfeld Immobilien and Head of Economic Development in Offenbach. "However, we remain convinced of the long-term effects: thanks to its sustainable construction, the new Pan Dacom Campus will fit perfectly into the Offenbach port and its concept as a sustainable urban quarter with high quality standards in terms of development and infrastructure. We will continue the close and reliable exchange with the Pan Dacom Group to ensure the smooth development of the former Heberger site."

Pan Dacom's new headquarters will be built on the site between the Messe Offenbach multi-storey parking lot and the Hafen 2 cultural center and will provide space for 300 employees. The new Pan Dacom campus in the port will also include a spacious park directly on the Main River with a view of the Frankfurt skyline and a parking garage for employees.

Pan Dacom's construction measures following on from the advance lift are currently still at the planning stage and are expected to begin in 2027.
