Career launch pad for Cro, Lena & Co.
21.04.2023 – The Capitol Theater in Offenbach celebrates its 25th birthday on October 21, 2023 - until then, the theater team will be highlighting one aspect of the unique event location on the 21st of each month. In April, the focus is on German stars and comedians who have graced the theater: Quite a few took their first steps on stage at Goethestraße before filling large halls years later. Others are now regular guests at the Capitol.
Will they manage the triple on May 5? So far, Sportfreunde Stiller have always sold out quickly in Offenbach. Exactly ten years ago, in May 2013, they received their first Sold Out Award. In November 2016, they filled the Capitol for the second time with their current hit "Das Geschenk" and sing-along classics such as "New York, Rio, Rosenheim" and "'54, '74, '90, 2006". It's quite possible that 2023 will be enough for the Sold Out Award for the third time.
Cro received one of the most recent awards for a full house in Offenbach a year ago: he effortlessly filled the Stadthalle in April 2022. Ten years earlier, the rapper had performed on stage at the Capitol - as the opening act for a now forgotten band called Jedward... Singer Sasha first came to the Capitol back in 1999, when he won the VIVA Youth Award with his hit "If You Believe". In the new millennium, the sonny boy returned to Goethestraße with his band Dick Brave & the Backbeats before rediscovering himself as Sasha. The performance of his current songs, now sung purely in German, at the Capitol had to be canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Kurt Krömer also started out rather small at the Capitol in 2006 in front of around 800 guests - and liked the location so much that he returned in 2008 and 2010. This spring, the comedian and bestselling author will be performing at venues including the Alte Oper in Frankfurt and the Circus Krone-Bau in Munich. Peter Maffay, whose 2023 open-air tour is already partially sold out, made guest appearances at the CapitolTheater in Offenbach in 2000 and 2005. Silbermond frontwoman Stefanie Kloß, who will be back on TV in 2023 with "Sing meinen Song - Das Tauschkonzert" in front of an audience of millions, gave a sold-out concert with her band in the former synagogue in 2006. The author Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre read from his first works here in 2002, the same year Martin Schneider presented his comedy show for the first time. The cabaret artist and regular guest Gerd Dudenhöffer has known the Capitol like the back of Heinz Becker's hand since 2004. The physician and TV presenter Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen also gained stage experience here in 2007 and also became a repeat offender.
Actors on the mic
Other stars have dropped by here almost incognito - such as actor Jan Josef Liefers in 2018 as the singer of the band Radio Doria and his wife and colleague Anna Loos five years earlier as the singer of the band Silly. Exactly ten years ago, on April 21, 2013, Lena Meyer-Landrut raved about a "wonderful location" at the Capitol as a 21-year-old. Einstürzende Neubauten delighted older generations in the venerable old building in 2004 and 2008. Felix Jaehn pulled out all the electronic stops here in 2018 in front of 1,800 fans, and this summer the world-famous DJ will perform in front of an estimated 90,000 people at the World Club Dome in Frankfurt's stadium.
Such anecdotes raise the exciting question of what Nico Stank might become one day: the newcomer will present his first stage program "merkste selber" at the Capitol Theater on 6 May 2023. The actor makes thousands of followers laugh every day on social media, and now he and his alter ego Nicola are venturing into stand-up comedy and live parodies. Speaking of social media: On Instagram and Facebook, the Capitol team is giving away two tickets for his performance in Offenbach on Friday, April 21, 2023.
Otherwise, proven German stars will be rocking the Capitol stage over the next few weeks. First up is Karat: the once most successful band in the GDR, which is still touring 48 years (!) after it was founded. On Saturday, April 29, the rock musicians will perform their hits such as "Der blaue Planet", "Jede Stunde" and, of course, "Über sieben Brücken musst du geh'n" in Offenbach. Sportfreunde Stiller are also full of enthusiasm and will be presenting their new album at the Capitol Theater on May 5. Old classics ("Applaus, Applaus", "Ein Kompliment") meet new hits - the organizer promises "Pomp, Polonaise and Positivity", and maybe they will also win the third Sold Out Award. After the summer break, the show continues in September with Martina Schwarzmann and Julia Engelmann, Mundstuhl and Badesalz - regular guests too, of course, dabrauchemergarnetdrüberredde...
