Capitol and Stadthalle Launch Planting Campaign with Children's and Youth Farm

29.09.2026 – The team at the Capitol Theater Offenbach and Stadthalle Offenbach has revamped its Sold Out Award: For every sold-out event held at the Stadtwerke Offenbach venues, it donates a tree.

Eleven event specialists—nearly the entire team—visited the Offenbach Children’s and Youth Farm on Wednesday, September 23, to plant eight saplings on its outdoor grounds. Equipped with gloves, shovels, watering cans, and a shared sense of purpose, they planted six apple trees and two walnut trees in the hard soil. The event, held in perfect early-autumn weather, was not only great fun for those involved: the team at the Offenbach Children’s and Youth Farm, led by Simon Isser, was also delighted with this sustainable support.

Contribution to the Statewide Sustainability Day

“We’ve been presenting the artistically designed ‘Sold Out Award’ since 2011, so it was time for something new,” said Birgit von Hellborn, managing director of the Capitol Theater and Stadthalle. When she presented a donation to the Children’s and Youth Farm in the fall of 2025, she spontaneously came up with the idea of supporting this local organization in other ways as well: “By planting trees, we’re doing something truly meaningful, and the children enjoy it, too.” The educational adventure playground is a “wonderful oasis in the middle of the big city, where nature can be experienced up close.” Walnut trees will be a whole new experience for the farm’s visitors. And once the newly planted apple varieties with evocative names like James Grieve, Gravensteiner, or Danziger Kantapfel bear fruit, fresh juice can be pressed from them right on site.

The planting event took place as part of the 9th Hesse Sustainability Day on September 23, 2026. Under this year’s motto, “Our Hesse: Together. More. Making a Difference,” the event invited people to generate new ideas, question habits, and take action—“for more diversity, more togetherness, and more sustainable development,” according to the state government’s website. Included in the number of saplings are the long-sold-out shows by Stefanie Heinzmann (on October 25 at the Capitol Theater) and Mehnersmoos (a doubleheader on November 20 and 21 at the Stadthalle). In return, the artists will each receive a bottle of apple wine—both alcoholic and non-alcoholic—as well as a certificate for the tree planted in their name. The “Sold Out Awards,” individually designed by Marcus Dörr of the artmos4 agency, will continue to be presented.
