Secret Christmas wishes
...you don't need to tell anyone!
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2024
Prelude: 16.00 hrs
Start of concert: 17.00 hrs
What actually makes Christmas time Christmas time? But above all: in our fast-paced, digitalized, deadline-ridden times, where do we get that spark of Christmas atmosphere that gets us into the romantic mood of the most beautiful of all beautiful festivals even before Christmas Eve? Scenario 1: When Mariah Carey starts playing "All I want for Christmas" on the car radio for the very first time this year, I immediately turn up the volume a little. To be honest, though: Only if I'm alone in the car at that moment. Scenario 2: When I've escaped the hustle and bustle of the shopping mall, ringing bells and drugged up from rather noisy nights, I just want to listen to the quiet, delicate, pure movement "Es ist ein Ros entsprungen" by Michael Praetorius. Without any beats or jingling. But you can't tell anyone that either - if you don't want to be seen as a completely fun-loving outsider.
Our program is dedicated to secret (musical) Christmas wishes. Music from "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella", "Charlie Brown Christmas" or "The Little Lord"? You'll get them live and symphonic on this evening. The purest and quietest and warmest Advent and Christmas carols with one of the most wonderful choirs in Hessen? Here too! And then our particular specialty, which can be guessed from the working title "Upcycling Christmas" - the refinement of kitsch. Because that's what we do with "Driving home for Christmas" and co.: what we rightly sometimes perceive as overdosed catchy tunes are polished into beautiful concert works with brilliant orchestration and brilliant choral movements. All together a very special mixture that is definitely one thing: absolutely magical.
