New Year's concert with variety show
Spectacle, bouquet & fun
SUNDAY, JANUARY 18, 2026
Start: 17.00 hrs
For many classical music fans, the Capitol Symphonie Orchester Offenbach's New Year's concert has long been a tradition; it is an obligatory part of the turn of the year, similar to dumplings and goose at Christmas," writes the Saarbrücker Zeitung newspaper about our concept, which combines brilliantly entertaining music with several performances of amazing artistry.
Nowhere does this idea work better than in our festive Capitol Theater, where the champagne atmosphere is built into the architecture, so to speak. In the middle of the big shining chandelier, surrounded by the unique female Oscar figures: our Varieté & Orchestra is really quite incomparable not only in Rhine-Main, but on a similar level to big show entertainments à la Berlin's Friedrichstadtpalast.
Of course, there's nothing missing that a New Year's concert doesn't need: The Blue Danube flows, the Radetzky March electrifies the rhythmically clapping audience - and there is also other wonderful music from the musical dynasties of the imperial and royal metropolis, especially Strauss. Metropolis, above all Strauss, Strauss and Strauss, of course. But New Year's at the Capitol wouldn't be New Year's at the Capitol if it weren't for the sparkling, colorful film music and all kinds of smart and/or beautiful classical music.
It has now become a tradition at the Capitol Theater to combine the sparkling, lively music for the New Year with sometimes rather funny, sometimes considerably astonishing variety acts, which the internationally active variety scout Dieter Becker brings to the Offenbach stage. Once again, this is something to look forward to, especially in Offenbach!
