Better living in Offenbach: A bookcase in the Bieber-Waldhof district office
21.10.2015 – We've all been there: we've read a book and want a new one, but don't have the space or the money to buy more straight away. Book swaps and public bookcases are a good alternative for all bookworms.
Erika and Kurt Breitenbach from Waldhof aktiv thought the same thing and approached the district office with the idea.
Sabine Süßmann from the "Better living in Offenbach" project quickly organized two shelves and the couple donated the first books.
Since October, books can now also be handed in and borrowed here during office hours on Thursdays between 5 and 7 pm. Astrid Conradi is the new contact person here and is also available once a week for questions, concerns and suggestions about the district.
Better living in Offenbach
The city-wide "Besser leben in Offenbach" project has been running since autumn 2007 and has been based at GBO Gemeinnützige Baugesellschaft Offenbach mbH since August 1, 2013. "The city administration and Stadtwerke Offenbach Group are pooling their activities in Offenbach to jointly upgrade the urban area. Offenbach citizens are actively involved in a large number of the projects and are thus contributing to the city's upgrading without burdening the city's finances. I would like to thank all the sponsors for this," said Dr. Felix Schwenke, Head of Public Order. To date, the participants in five city districts - the eastern city center, the inner city, the Nordend and Lauterborn districts and the Senefelder Quartier - have made a lasting commitment to greater cleanliness and civic engagement.
