Success stories from the Ostpol think tank
Company location, think tank, shared workspace: the bright orange Ostpol Gründercampus at Hermann-Steinhäuser-Straße 43-47 offers self-employed people, creative professionals and company founders affordable offices with good working conditions. The tenancy agreements have no fixed term and only three months' notice, no deposit is required and the infrastructure such as kitchen, reception and, if desired, telephone switchboard are shared by the tenants.
In 2005, GBO Gemeinnützige Baugesellschaft mbH from the Stadtwerke Group's Geschäftsfeld Immobilien division took over the former Postwohnheim together with the Office for Economic Development. Following a conversion, it was primarily rented out to start-up companies in order to attract a new clientele to the Mathildenviertel.
Since then, around 270 young entrepreneurs have tried out themselves and their concepts there. The 60 offices ranging in size from 20 to 140 square meters are fully occupied, 211 tenants have left the Ostpol - most of them because their idea was successful and they now need more space. This series presents some of these success stories.
