Attractive living in Offenbach: GBO invests several million euros every year in the construction of new apartments and the conversion and refurbishment of its existing housing stock to ensure contemporary living comfort in Offenbach. GBO continuously invests in the refurbishment of its housing stock for its tenants. Every year, GBO carries out around 100 full modernizations and around 40 partial modernizations, especially of older apartments.
The GBO standard is a reliable indicator of quality. This specifies the requirements that a GBO apartment must meet in terms of structural condition and contemporary furnishings. From the installation of new radiators and sanitary facilities to new tiles and floors to painting, carpentry and wallpapering work: the GBO standard for apartment modernization covers numerous items.
Safe and in good hands
The security of its tenants is particularly important to GBO. GBO is therefore committed to numerous safety-related measures as part of the GBO standard. These include equipping apartments with new electrical wiring and sockets, carrying out safety checks on gas installations and (if necessary) replacing gas and water pipes.
In 2005, the state of Hesse stipulated by law that existing homes in new buildings, conversions and existing buildings must be fitted with smoke alarms. This means that bedrooms, children's rooms and corridors intended as escape routes must be fitted with at least one functioning smoke alarm. In order to further increase safety in residential buildings, the GBO has decided to also equip stairwells with smoke alarms.

Sustainable and future-oriented action - for GBO, this also means fulfilling its ecological responsibility. Responsibility that pays off for you: energy-efficiently renovated apartments help to reduce CO² emissions and heating costs. In this way, you protect the environment and your wallet.
Systematic refurbishment: Since 2006, GBO has refurbished around 1,400 apartments to make them more energy-efficient. As part of the construction work, the properties in question have been fitted with new thermally insulated front doors, new and in some cases soundproofed windows, façade insulation and roof and basement insulation.
