Further work started at the port
27.07.2024 – Construction work on the Offenbach 2024 port continues: Following the demolition of the CDM building, further work began in mid-July 2024 as part of a tender package - connection to the Walter Spiller Bridge, closing the gap in the Main riverbank path at Hafenplatz and creating the Lower Pier Park.
Stadtwerke subsidiary Mainviertel Offenbach GmbH & Co KG, which is responsible for the development of the harbor on behalf of the city, is continuing to consistently implement its open space concept in the new section of the park: Trees are being planted, paths laid out and open lines of sight to the river created to make the harbor basin and the Main River a tangible experience.
A new road, including an intersection and traffic lights, will connect the Hafenallee directly to the Walter Spiller Bridge, replacing the temporary, winding route. The services commissioned also include the connection to the Mainuferweg in the easternmost section of the harbor. This will close a gap for residents and walkers alike. Depending on the weather, the work should be completed by spring 2025.
