Review of the second half of 2024
After an exciting summer at the stadium, OFC kicked off the new season at the end of July. In addition to well-attended league matches, we had some soccer highlights and other great events at the stadium. We take a look back.
By winning the Hessen Cup in May 2024, OFC secured a ticket for the 2024/25 DFB Cup season. Everyone was eagerly anticipating a thrilling cup clash at Bieberer Berg against 1. FC Magdeburg. Almost ten years after the last clash between the two teams in the relegation play-off for the third division, the duel was repeated on August 19, 2024 in the first round of the DFB Cup. On that summer evening, 16,847 fans watched an exciting and strong match that ended in a 2:1 victory for Offenbach. There was great jubilation and joy - OFC was finally back in the second round of the cup.
After the summer break, the hr1 Dancefloor took place again in the business area of the stadium. The DJs entertained around 600 guests twice each with well-known hits from the 80s. With an exuberant atmosphere, many familiar but also some new faces, the guests partied until after midnight. As a new highlight, guests had the opportunity to have their picture taken in the photo box and take their memories of the parties in the stadium with them.
The first two dates for 2025 have already been confirmed: Saturday, 25.01.2025 and Saturday, 26.04.2025. Tickets are available at the hr Ticketcenter or at the box office.
The draw for the second round of the DFB Cup took place at the beginning of September. OFC's next opponent was once again a second division team, this time Karlsruher SC. The match was scheduled for October 29. 20,071 spectators watched the game at Bieberer Berg, a sell-out crowd! There was a goosebump atmosphere right from the start of the evening, and the OFC fans' choreo was the latest thing to get the anticipation for the upcoming match to a fever pitch. OFC fought hard, but lost 2:0 in the end. Despite the defeat, it was an unforgettable cup evening that will certainly be remembered by the players and fans for a long time.
At the end of the year, we as a stadium company once again planned public stadium tours. The groups were guided through the "hallowed halls" of the stadium under floodlights. As special guests this time, we had the support of former OFC fan representatives Sylvia Mandel and Stefan Pölzl, who enriched the stadium tour with their anecdotes from past matches and experiences around Bieberer Berg. The tours ended on the sidelines with punch and mulled wine and the opportunity to take unique photos and ask questions that have been burning under our nails for a long time.
We are now saying goodbye to the winter break and are already in the starting blocks for 2025. We are looking forward to great major events and are keeping our fingers crossed for OFC that things continue to go so well and that we can hopefully celebrate promotion together in May 2025. More about the upcoming events here and on our social media channels soon.
