Finally, international matches in the Stadion am Bieberer Berg again: The German women's national team played against Chile
The last time two national teams met in the Stadion am Bieberer Berg was some time ago. On November 16, 2018, Germany's U21 national team faced the Netherlands. After three years, the time had come again.
On June 15, the women's national team was a guest in Offenbach. Coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's team faced the Chilean women's national team in front of 1,000 spectators. As the operator of the stadium, Stadiongesellschaft Bieberer Berg mbH is very positive about the development of being able to play in front of spectators again and hopes to host international sporting events again soon.
Unlike in 2018, the match between the two women's national teams was dominated by the coronavirus pandemic, meaning that only 1,000 guests were allowed into the stadium. The test match remained goalless and ended 0:0. Those who were unable to watch the home match in the stadium could switch to their own sofa, as ZDF broadcast the match live on television.
The team at Stadiongesellschaft Bieberer Berg, which is responsible for stadium operations, is delighted to be able to host international matches again in addition to OFC's home games. After a long break due to the pandemic, the stadium has now returned to an international soccer atmosphere.
Before the international match, national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's team trained on the pitches of the Rosenhöhe sports facility, among others, to prepare for the encounter with the South Americans.
