New artificial turf pitch at Sana Sportpark

21.07.2025 – The artificial turf pitch used by Kickers Offenbach at Sana Sportpark was renovated on behalf of Sport und Freizeit GmbH. The project was largely financed by the state of Hesse as part of the special program "New construction, maintenance and safeguarding of sports facilities". The work was awarded following a Europe-wide tender. The contract was awarded to a French specialist for artificial turf, who carried out the renovation work professionally and on time. The work has now been completed. The modernized pitch is now available again for training and matches.

"By renewing the heavily worn artificial turf pitch, we are sending a clear signal of reliability for sport," says Lord Mayor and Head of Sports Dr. Felix Schwenke. "Artificial turf has proven itself as a robust, durable and low-maintenance alternative - and is therefore cheaper to maintain than natural turf. We are very pleased that we will be able to offer the OFC optimal training conditions for its youth work in the future, which will also make a performance center possible. I would like to thank the state of Hesse for their support as well as the chairman of the sports district Jörg Wagner and OFC managing director Christian Hock for their excellent cooperation."

Andreas Herzog, Managing Director of the SFO, emphasizes the efficiency of the facility: "It is important to us to maintain the training infrastructure at a high level. The artificial turf pitch can be played on all year round and meets the requirements for training and match operations at a performance center."

"We are delighted to have a state-of-the-art artificial pitch," said OFC Managing Director Christian Hock. "This is a significant step forward for our performance center. It gives us the opportunity to train and play under optimal conditions at all times, even in the winter months."
