City of Offenbach

History of the stadium

Soccer enthusiasm and a love of the "round leather" are very important in Offenbach.

How it all began

Industrial leather production settled in the city as early as the 18th century, making Offenbach known beyond Germany's borders as the "City of Leather". The sporting use of leather also underwent an exciting development. In 1921, a wooden grandstand for 1,200 soccer fans was finally built on the city's former parade ground, the so-called Bieberer Berg.

The opening match between the"Offenbacher Fußballclub Kickers 1901 e.V. (opens in a new tab)" (OFC) and Wacker München took place on May 29, 1921 in front of an incredible 12,000 spectators and ended 3:5 for the visitors.

Tradition, present and future

In 2011, a modern English-style stadium with space for 20,500 spectators was built stand by stand. In addition to its cult character, the four separate, particularly steep stands and the high proportion of standing room ensure an unforgettable soccer experience. Almost unique in Germany is the fact that the new main stand is only six meters away from the pitch instead of the previous 14 meters.
