Questions and answers on the reorganization and expansion of transport services

To reduce costs, the eMobil car and bike sharing system, which had been operated by Stadtwerke in cooperation with RMV as a pioneering service for electromobility since 2011, was discontinued in 2023. In order to still guarantee connected mobility, rental bikes from the provider Call-a-bike are now available at the former eMobil stations.

Originally, the cost-cutting concept also envisaged the closure of the mobility center, but in the context of the introduction of the 9-euro ticket and later the Deutschlandticket, it has become clear that personal advice on site is appreciated and needed, so the closure of the mobility center proposed in the cost-cutting concept was not implemented. It was therefore decided to retain the mobility center and merely adjust the opening hours to reduce costs. This meant that two part-time positions could be saved. The employees affected found new employment within Stadtwerke Offenbach.

In the workshop area, work processes were made more efficient. For example, new diagnostic equipment ensures better analyses and therefore fewer vehicle breakdowns, non-economic third-party business such as third-party repairs or refueling was discontinued after the inspection, and services that were outsourced to subcontractors can now be carried out by the workshop with the existing staff.

In the area of operations, digitalization was driven forward in order to optimise processes: Regular driver's license checks for drivers are now carried out digitally, and a depot management system ensures that buses are loaded optimally. The points at which the drivers change shifts have also been optimized.

Accompanying measures have been implemented to make the service more attractive and at the same time more efficient for passengers: some of the bus traffic lights and special signals have been optimized, which has increased the punctuality of the city buses. The opening up of the second lane in the Berliner Straße / Marktplatz area has also noticeably improved the punctuality of buses. Further measures to speed up bus traffic will follow.
