Winter operation at the eMobil stations: Pedelecs available at plus temperatures
25.11.2020 – The six eMobil stations will start operating in winter from December. Even in the cold season, users can continue to remain electrically mobile. In addition to the electric cars, a reduced number of pedelecs are also available for hire. The first 30 minutes of riding the pedelecs are free of charge. The Offenbacher Verkehrs-Betriebe (OVB) of Stadtwerke, which operates the mobility stations together with RMV, would like to point this out.
The pedelecs only have to be temporarily paused when temperatures fall well below 0 degrees for long periods in order to avoid damaging the batteries. The electric bikes can then still be rented out. Pedelecs that take a breather in winter are subjected to comprehensive technical maintenance during this time so that they are ready for electric rides again in spring.
Use pedelecs free of charge for 30 minutes
The first 30 minutes of every ride on a pedelec are free of charge. This benefits users who want to use the pedelecs for journeys within Offenbach: Due to the short distances, routes within the city can usually be covered within the free minutes.
On sunny and dry winter days, a tour into the countryside is also an option - for example the "eMobil Stadt, Wald, Fluss" tour with the Actionbound app.
Borrowing via the app
With the eMobil RheinMain app, renting a bike is easy and convenient. The app can be downloaded to your smartphone free of charge via the Google PlayStore and the Apple App Store and makes it easy to reserve, rent and return the pedelecs. This also applies to the electric cars.
All that is required to use the rental vehicles is a one-off registration at www.emobil-rheinmain.de and, in the case of the e-cars, a driving license check at the RMV mobility center in Salzgässchen 1.
Six eMobil stations in the city area
Electric cars and pedelecs are available for hire at the following locations: Rathaus, Hafen (Nordring), Bieber (Ostendplatz), Rumpenheim (Kurhessenplatz) Tempelsee (Brunnenweg corner Weserstraße), An den Eichen (near the "Eibenweg" stop).
