Glass straw instead of math book

Does your drink taste like an "old math book"? Then you should read on now. The taste is either due to the drink or the wonderful object you are using to drink it.

In both cases, you should definitely give it some thought. In the first case, I would advise you to check whether your drink is still okay. In the second case, you are not alone in this phenomenon. The cause is often the (disposable) straw used.

Personally, it really bothers me when I have to drink my drink from a cardboard straw, as the feeling of having a soft straw in my mouth from which nothing comes out is not the true taste experience. However, because I can't (and don't want to) drink the drink from a plastic straw either, as these are no longer to be sold since July 2021 (for good reason!), I looked for an alternative. I found the solution for me with metal and glass straws. Not only does the drink taste good from these, but they also save a lot of waste. This type of straw is reusable and can be easily cleaned with a small brush (often included in a set). That's why I'd like to tell you about them today.

Since I've been using glass straws, I've also noticed something: "disposable straws" are always placed in supermarkets where enough waste is already being produced. Or have you ever seen a "cardboard straw" stuck to a glass bottle? I definitely haven't! So instead of drinking my cocoa from a plastic or cardboard container with a disposable straw, this week I decided to use a glass bottle and a glass straw - and I have to say, I definitely enjoyed it! I'm surprised how easy it can be to avoid waste and do something good for the environment. I know it's just one small step of many, but every step, no matter how small, will eventually lead to the goal.

Until then: drink right and the waste will go down!
