Bulky waste and electronic waste

Bulky waste includes all movable objects that do not fit into the residual waste garbage can even after reasonable shredding, for example old furniture or mattresses, carpets and PVC flooring as well as baby carriages.

Bulky waste does not include construction and renovation waste, small parts, sacks and cardboard waste such as used oil, batteries and paint. This waste must be disposed of at the recycling center.

Electrical waste includes all electrical appliances that need to be disposed of, for example broken household appliances such as fridges or dishwashers, but also televisions or computer monitors. For larger electrical appliances, you can book an appointment for collection by Stadtservice. Please note that electrical appliances are not collected with the normal bulky waste but by another vehicle, as they are recycled separately.

Smaller broken electrical appliances can also be handed in at the recycling center or disposed of in one of the electronic waste containers in the city district offices. Electronics retailers are also obliged to take back defective appliances.

Used tires and scrap metal (such as metal bed frames) are collected by a separate vehicle, as is electrical waste, as these items can be recycled separately. It is therefore important that you specify them explicitly when ordering bulky waste.

If you would like to get rid of your bulky waste as quickly as possible, you can also arrange an express appointment. With express appointments, we guarantee that your bulky waste will be collected within four days. A fee of €55.00 is charged for this service.

You can book the appointment online and pay the fee by SEPA direct debit. If you book the appointment by telephone, the fee must be paid in cash in advance at the customer service desk at Daimlerstraße 8.
