The right words in bereavement

Funeral services are increasingly being personalized. This also includes the speech in the funeral hall: who remembers the deceased person and what made them special? In addition to traditional spiritual support, more and more professional funeral speakers are offering their services.

When a loved one dies, we are often literally at a loss for words. "It is rare for immediate family members to give a eulogy, which is incredibly difficult in these highly emotional hours," reports Gabriele Schreiber, head of the municipal cemeteries in Offenbach. In the past, there were mainly religious funerals where a pastor (or a rabbi or imam) would say prayers with those present, among other things. However, the connection to church congregations is declining - and so the desire for a eulogy from private providers, regardless of denomination, is growing. "This solution now predominates at our cemeteries," says Schreiber.

In every farewell lies the birth of a memory

Various professional funeral speakers are available in the city and district of Offenbach to help you say a sensitive and dignified farewell - from actors and journalists to former managing directors. The funeral directors can put you in touch with them. In order to create an authentic, multifaceted picture of the deceased person, they need information about their life and character. Ideally, these memories and anecdotes should come from different areas, such as family, work and hobbies.

Drawing strength and comfort together

The following applies to every type of eulogy, including those for relatives: this day does not necessarily provide the space for unresolved conflicts. Rather, it is about maintaining a conciliatory tone in order to draw strength and comfort together from the love for the deceased. Humorous aspects are also conceivable if it suits the person in question and maintains a sense of tact.

Several short speeches at a funeral service can create a special connection between those present: for example, a former club colleague recalls the fighting spirit of his teammate and a granddaughter remembers visits to the zoo with her grandfather. An Offenbach specialty here is the connection to the Kickers - even after death. "Honorary President Waldemar Klein wrote an obituary for the most loyal OFC members well into old age," says Gabriele Schreiber. "His widow Barbara Klein continues this tradition to this day."
