Cengiz Erdogdu has been ensuring cleanliness and safety for 25 years

15.08.2024 – Over the past two and a half decades of his professional life, Cengiz Erdogdu has tidied up, cleaned and removed tons of waste from the streets of Offenbach every working day: he started out as a refuse collector for a short time in 1999 and later switched to street cleaning. Now he is celebrating his service anniversary at Stadtwerke Offenbach's Stadtservice.

During my 25 years at the municipal utilities, I drove almost everything - from sweepers to trucks.

Cengiz Erdogdu has obtained various driving licenses in his professional life in order to be able to take on new areas of work again and again.

Initially he qualified for small sweepers, later he was also able to drive the large sweepers and, as a substitute, trucks. "Mr. Erdogdu is also part of the team that goes out at night during snow and ice alerts to clear and grit Offenbach's main roads for other road users. As part of the winter service, he then goes out on patrols every four weeks to assess the road conditions and ensures that the winter service gets off to a smooth start," says Heiko Linne, Operations Manager at ESO Stadtservice GmbH. "For the past 25 years, he has been constantly improving his qualifications according to the needs of his department and we have always been able to rely on him and his high level of commitment."

He has also worked as a crane operator for Stadtservice in the meantime. For several years, he also supported the GBM janitors in cleaning school playgrounds with the sweeper, and today he is responsible for keeping Offenbach's streets clean.

The past 25 years have passed very quickly, says the married father of two grown-up children looking back. "That's because I've had so many different tasks. But above all, I have a good team here. And when the team is right, the work is fun."
