City of Offenbach

Sewer inspection with the camera vehicle

24.03.2026 – The drainage team at Stadtwerke Offenbach's Stadtservice is having the sewer pipes in the city inspected and cleaned at fixed intervals. The work will start on Wednesday, March 25, in Bieber Waldhof. A total of 21 kilometers of sewer will be inspected throughout the city and cleaned if necessary.

In most cases, a small camera car drives through the pipe. It is controlled from a vehicle that stops in front of the nearest manhole on the road. The flushing vehicle also needs access via a manhole on the road and must stop in front of it during cleaning. Both the inspection and the cleaning from manhole to manhole usually take 15 minutes, in exceptional cases up to 30 minutes. There are no barriers in residential streets, and road users are asked to be considerate when driving around the vehicles.

If the sewer under main roads such as Waldstraße or Rhönstraße is being inspected or cleaned, the work will be carried out at night when there is less traffic. The municipal utilities will provide information on this in good time.
