New winter service regulations in force - clearing obligation until 10 pm

29.11.2023 – Temperatures are dropping and the onset of winter is becoming more likely. Stadtwerke would therefore like to remind property owners in the Offenbach city area once again of the changes in the new winter service regulations, which now apply for the 2023/2024 winter season.

As in Frankfurt and Wiesbaden, this has been adapted to the changed reality of life in a large city. As people are out and about here from early in the morning until late in the evening, the sidewalks also have to be cleared of snow for longer and the ice on them has to be blunted.

In concrete terms, this means that the winter maintenance obligation now applies to a sidewalk width of 1.50 meters on weekdays, i.e. Mondays to Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. inclusive. On Sundays and public holidays, the sidewalks must be safe to walk on from 9 am to 8 pm. In addition to property owners and property management companies, the city and the municipal utilities themselves are also affected by the new regulation.

Fresh snow can be easily removed with a snow shovel. Hard-packed snow is best removed with a broom with firm bristles. Grit is the most efficient way to blunt ice. However, as soon as the ice and snow have melted, the grit must be swept up again.
