ESO builds new sewer in Mühlheimer Straße
09.05.2017 – A new sewer will be built in Mühlheimer Straße in the coming months. With these measures, the Stadtservice business field of the Stadtwerke Offenbach Group is implementing the general drainage plan as a requirement of the regional council. The new construction of the sewer as a collector sewer is required for the drainage of the surrounding construction areas.
Collecting sewer replaces existing sewers
A new sewer is being built under Mühlheimer Straße on the section between Karl-Herdt-Weg, up to the junction with Im Eschig, and Ulmenstraße. Over a total length of around 500 meters, several existing sewers will be partially replaced by a new collector sewer with a diameter of 1.5 meters.
The construction work will be carried out in individual sections and is expected to last until November 2017. The new sewer will cost four million euros, the construction of which is being financed by the Eigenbetrieb Stadt Offenbach (ESO).
Restrictions for motorists and cyclists possible
Among other things, the construction work will use the so-called jacking technique, in which an underground jacking head is used for the boreholes. Although ESO is taking various measures to minimize obstructions, there may be restrictions and detour for motorists and cyclists in some areas of Mühlheimer Straße.
For example, there will be no cycle path on the entire construction section of Mühlheimer Straße. However, the roadway will remain passable for the entire duration of the construction work. The Geschäftsfeld Stadtservice will inform the public about any detour on the Stadtwerke Group website and in the daily press.
