Plane tree has to be felled - Frankfurter Straße fully closed for one day
28.01.2025 – On Wednesday, February 5, Stadtwerke Offenbach's Stadtservice will have to cut down a plane tree on Frankfurter Straße between Rödernstraße and Ludwigstraße.
As the tree is 28 meters high and has a trunk circumference of almost three meters, a full road closure is necessary. The large pieces of trunk have to be roped down, so the road will be closed in both directions. The work will begin at around 8 am and is expected to last until 4 pm. During the work, traffic will be diverted via Ludwigstraße, Dreieichring and Parkstraße as well as via Rödernstraße, Berliner Straße and Ludwigstraße.
The plane tree had already been found to be rotting during regular routine inspections. Now the remaining wall thickness has been examined in greater depth using a so-called resistograph. It was found that the thickness towards the road was only slight due to the rot and that the tree was no longer stable. Felling is therefore unavoidable to ensure road safety.
